On July 30, the UAE Media Council introduced a new regulation requiring an ‘Advertiser Permit’ for anyone posting advertisements on social media platforms. This permit is essential for individuals sharing any promotional content online.

The initiative aims to enhance transparency, professionalism, and safety in digital advertising for consumers. It seeks to align with rapid media changes by establishing clear guidelines for posting ads.

The permit will be free for the initial three years and becomes mandatory in three months, according to the authority. While many influencers in the UAE welcomed the initiative, questions about its implementation remain.
