The UAE has conveyed its heartfelt condolences and support to the Sudanese people following the tragic landslide in Darfur.
A devastating landslide in western Darfur has claimed over 1,000 lives, according to a rebel group controlling the region, with only one person surviving the disaster.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed the UAE’s deep sympathy to the families impacted by this tragedy and reiterated its solidarity with Sudan during this trying period.

The catastrophe occurred on Sunday after prolonged heavy rainfall, ravaging the village of Tarasin in the Marra mountains, as reported by the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army.
The “massive and devastating” landslide destroyed the village and “completely annihilated” a part of the region known for citrus cultivation.
The group has called upon the United Nations and other humanitarian organizations for assistance in recovering the deceased.
