Retail is a crucial pillar of the UAE economy, with the sector reaching $145.3 billion last year. Projections suggest the market will grow at a compound annual rate exceeding 5% through 2033.

In Dubai, retail trade is the largest economic sector, contributing 23% to the GDP and showing a 4.5% year-on-year growth in Q1 2025.

“The UAE is a dynamic market for fashion, where global trends meet a strong local identity, creating a unique space for street fashion brands,” said Shubham Gupta, Founder of Bonkers Corner, a popular Indian unisex streetwear brand that recently launched its e-commerce platform in the UAE.

This strategic launch marks Bonkers Corner’s official entry into the Middle East, following its success in India with over 15 stores and a robust online presence. “We’ve seen a significant rise in demand for bold, personalized apparel in the UAE,” Gupta stated. “Launching a dedicated platform for the region was a natural next step, allowing us to serve our community better and reflect their unique blend of creativity, culture, and fashion-forward mindset.”

Streetwear in the UAE is evolving swiftly. The mix of diverse cultural influences means styles change rapidly, providing a landscape where agile brands can thrive, Gupta noted. “In the next three to five years, the sector will become more experience-driven, with brands needing to create events, collaborations, and content that forge strong emotional connections with their audience. It’s about more than fashion; it’s about identity and belonging,” he added.

While competition from global brands is inevitable, it signals a thriving market open to experimentation. “Our ability to create limited editions, bold releases, and pop-culture-inspired collections gives us an agility that many larger brands lack,” Gupta remarked.

Bonkers Corner is pursuing an omnichannel strategy that combines e-commerce convenience with the immersive retail experience. “Pop-ups, experiential stores, and strategic partnerships with leading malls will let customers engage with the brand on a sensory level,” Gupta explained.
