UAE Updates Visa Regulations for Global Talent

The amendments included the addition of four new purposes for visit visas, along with updating the conditions and durations of several existing visas. This is part of the state’s strategy to enhance openness and attract global talents, especially in fields like artificial intelligence, entertainment, and tourism. Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, confirmed that the new amendments aim to improve the quality of life, enhance trade and transport movements, support technology sectors, and increase the economic competitiveness of the UAE.

The amendments also included changes to the conditions for truck drivers’ visas, allowing for either a single trip or multiple trips, guaranteed by shipping or commercial transport facilities, with fulfillment of financial guarantee and health insurance requirements.

The statement also noted the update of the regulations for visiting a friend or relative according to the degree of kinship. A minimum monthly income is required: 4,000 AED for the first degree, 8,000 AED for the second or third degree, and 15,000 AED for visiting a friend. According to the statement, the duration is set for one year, with the possibility of renewal or cancellation based on reports from the competent department, and some cases may be exempt from financial solvency or degree of kinship conditions by a decision from the Director-General.

The statement further indicated that the new decision includes a detailed schedule of durations and authorizations, aiming to enhance governance and transparency, enabling clients to achieve their goals according to the type and importance of the visa.
