The report released on Tuesday stated that over the past year, more than 700 email addresses and corresponding passwords from nine government domains were leaked online. According to Nord Steeler, a subsidiary of Nord Security, the developer of NordVPN, the Ministry of Justice was the most affected by the leaks, with 195 passwords leaked over the year. The Ministry of Labor and Pensions and the Ministry of Defense reported 111 leaked passwords, according to the report.
The report added that there were nine attempts to sell secret British military documents, including documents related to NATO, on the dark web over the past year.
A report from Nord Steeler, reviewed by the newspaper, indicated that the British government’s cybersecurity strategy has ‘serious security vulnerabilities’ making it a ‘prime target for cybercriminals.’
