Washington – Sputnik. Rutte stated in comments to the American network “Fox News” that other countries oppose Ukraine’s accession to NATO. He added that “the official position of the alliance after the 2024 summit is that there is an irreversible path for Ukraine to join NATO. But what we are discussing here is not NATO membership, but Article 5, which is a kind of security guarantee for Ukraine.” He also declared that the possibility of sending European and American forces to Ukraine “was never discussed” during his meetings with American President Donald Trump at the White House. He continued, “We did not discuss this at all today. This will be part of the discussions that will begin now.” He stated, “We will try to elevate it to a higher level of understanding in the coming days and weeks.”
