The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) stated, “The estimated cost of rebuilding the Gaza Strip could reach approximately $70 billion.” The program added that about 425,000 housing units were damaged or completely destroyed in the Gaza Strip due to the war, expecting numerous bodies to be discovered during the debris removal process. The UNDP emphasized that the recovery of the Gaza Strip will require a long time and coordinated international efforts, including reconstruction, infrastructure, and basic services, stressing the need to start work under a comprehensive and sustainable plan. Estimates indicate that the sector needs years of continuous work to rebuild what was destroyed, especially given the damage to electricity, water, sewage networks, hospitals, and schools, alongside the total or partial destruction of tens of thousands of homes. In a related context, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated he would seek to rally support from the Gulf countries, the United States, and Europe for the reconstruction of Gaza under the new ceasefire agreement, expressing his belief that funding for projects will be quickly available. Egypt hosted a peace summit on Monday in Sharm El Sheikh, chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump, with the participation of leaders and delegates from about 20 countries. Over two years of continuous Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, the medical sector, schools, universities, places of worship, infrastructure, and vital resources supporting life in the sector were destroyed. Fifteen vital sectors in Gaza were destroyed, and the attacks left large numbers of Palestinian civilian casualties and injuries.
