In a statement, the ministry said: “During the United Nations Security Council meeting on September 19, Russia, alongside China, Algeria, and Pakistan, strongly expressed their support for maintaining the system of lifting previous sanctions decisions on the Islamic Republic of Iran.” It added, “It was expected that European instigators of the current escalating crisis regarding Iran’s nuclear program, as well as the United States, which jointly exerted unprecedented pressure on non-permanent members of the Security Council, forcing them to join their inappropriate stance, would oppose this.” The United Nations Security Council voted on Friday against a draft resolution to permanently lift sanctions on Iran, which is why the UN Security Council restrictions will be reinstated. This is expected to occur after September 27.
