According to the report published by an American newspaper on Tuesday, Washington sent J.D. Vance, the Vice President of the United States, to Israel to bolster the Trump administration’s efforts to maintain the agreement, which was mediated and guaranteed by Turkey and Qatar. The report noted that Vance is joining forces with Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, regarding this issue, indicating that “the aim is to confirm a high-level American commitment to upholding the terms of the agreement.”
American concerns have increased with repeated skirmishes witnessed in the past days since the agreement was signed. While hardliners within Netanyahu’s government are calling for continued warfare on Gaza, Hamas emphasizes its commitment to the agreement’s terms and urges Israel to “avoid violating it, especially concerning the entry of aid,” according to the text of the agreement.
It is noteworthy that the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10th, following negotiations between Israel in Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey. The agreement includes a ceasefire and the entry of aid into the sector that endured a war lasting over two years, resulting in approximately 68,000 Palestinian deaths and about 170,000 injuries.
