The Israeli channel ‘i24 news’ reported on Wednesday evening that Weitzkopf will head to Israel late today or early tomorrow to discuss the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip. It noted that the US envoy to the Middle East is expected to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and is anticipated to visit the humanitarian aid distribution sites in Gaza, belonging to the US-based ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’ in the sector.
In a related context, the death toll from famine and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip has risen to 154, including 89 children, after recording 7 new deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. The ministry stated in a statement on Wednesday: “Seven deaths were registered in the past 24 hours due to famine and malnutrition.”
Palestinian medical sources indicated that “21 people were killed by Israeli army fire since Wednesday morning, most of whom were waiting for aid.” The Gaza Strip is facing one of the worst humanitarian crises, as the inhabitants suffer from severe famine under the blockade imposed by Israel since October 7, 2023.
