Peskov said at a press conference held by the Indian news agency ‘Sputnik’ for media outlets: “We have no doubt that this will be a very important step towards peace and a peaceful resolution.” Peskov noted that “the special envoy of the US President, Steve, will be the chief negotiator in Moscow.”

US President Donald Trump earlier confirmed that his special envoy, Steve Whitkov, intends to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days. Media outlets had previously reported, quoting an unnamed US official, that Whitkov is expected to hold talks with Putin on Tuesday, December 2.

In context, Trump mentioned that the US and Ukrainian delegations were in agreement during the talks held. The United States has presented a new peace plan for Ukraine, and media reported that the original draft resolution, consisting of 28 points, was reduced to only 19 points after a meeting of US, Ukrainian, and European officials in Geneva for talks on November 23.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Kyiv needs to make a decision and start negotiations, pointing out that Kyiv’s freedom to make decisions is diminishing as a result of the offensive actions of the Russian Armed Forces.
