The US Department of State announced on Saturday that America has informed the guarantor countries of the Gaza peace agreement about credible reports indicating an imminent violation of the ceasefire by the Palestinian Hamas movement against Gaza residents. It considered that “this planned attack against Palestinian civilians constitutes a direct and serious violation of the ceasefire agreement and undermines the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts.”
It continued: “The guarantor countries demand that Hamas fulfills its obligations under the ceasefire terms, and if Hamas proceeds with this attack, actions will be taken to protect Gaza residents and maintain the integrity of the ceasefire.”
The US Department of State further stated: “America and the other guarantor countries remain steadfast in their commitment to ensuring the safety of civilians, maintaining calm on the ground, and promoting peace and prosperity for the residents of Gaza and the region as a whole.”
Last Monday, US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a declaration regarding the Gaza ceasefire. Under the agreement, Hamas released all twenty hostages held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, in exchange for Israel releasing 1,718 detainees from Gaza and 250 Palestinian prisoners from its prisons.
