Sargsyan added, “At that time, there was a need for someone to take an interest in the company and be ready for long-term investment without seeking profit.” He noted that he continued this even after the end of his presidential term in 2018.

Sargsyan did not rule out that one of the reasons the current authorities took such a step is the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2026. He pointed out that there is a large team working there, which is crucial for the elections.

The head of the “Tashir” Group of Companies was accused of calling for a takeover of power, and investigations into his activities have begun. He was threatened with the nationalization of his company, “Electric Networks of Armenia.”

On August 11, Samvel Karapetyan and his family officially initiated international arbitration proceedings against the Republic of Armenia to hold it accountable for the confiscation of the Electric Networks of Armenia company.

He is considered to have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in Armenia to support the country’s economy. He is the founder of the “Tashir” Charitable Foundation, which has been operating for 15 years, aiming to preserve spiritual heritage, develop medicine and children’s sports, and implement programs in culture and education.
