The newspaper ‘Vedomosti’ quoted the spokesperson as saying on her Telegram channel: “She did not request, nor does she demand it, but if it is necessary to achieve peace in our sister republic, we are ready to organize any meeting. We will conduct everything at the highest level,” noting that the President of Belarus has not discussed this issue with his American counterpart.
The American President said today, Tuesday, during an interview: “I contacted President Putin, and we are trying to arrange a meeting with Zelensky. We will see what happens there. If it succeeds, I will go to the trilateral meeting to finalize it (reach an agreement). I do not plan to participate in the first possible meeting between Putin and Zelensky until it is held in a bilateral format.”
He added: “I have a good relationship with President Putin, and the most important thing is to end this war with him. If the war does not end, the situation will be complicated.”
Trump responded to a question about the stance of the participants (European leaders) in the meeting on the necessity of Kyiv making territorial concessions: “They understood.”
Trump confirmed that Russia currently owns and controls 79 percent of Donbas, and Ukraine understands what that means, saying: “A large area of land has been controlled, but Donbas, as you know, is owned by Russia and controlled by 79 percent. So, they (Ukrainians) understand what that means.”
Ushakov added: “The American President briefed President Putin on the negotiations with Zelensky and European state leaders,” noting that “the conversation lasted about 40 minutes.”
He continued: “In addition, about supporting direct negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations.” He mentioned that the leaders discussed the idea of studying the possibility of raising the level of Moscow and Kyiv representatives in the negotiations.
The Russian President warmly thanked the American leader for the hospitality during the meeting in Alaska, according to Yuri Ushakov, the Russian President’s assistant.
