This was stated in a statement published by the US Department of the Treasury on its official website today, Thursday, in which it said that “the sanctions target 32 individuals and entities, in addition to 4 ships belonging to ‘Ansar Allah’.” It noted that the aim is to disrupt the sources of funding for ‘Ansar Allah’, which it relies on for its operations in the Red Sea, pointing out that “other companies based in other countries are included, which are used to transport dual-use shipments.” The United States and its Western allies have tried through various military means to prevent ‘Ansar Allah’ from targeting ships in the Red Sea, but all the military tactics they used did not achieve their goals.
