Saba Net, affiliated with Ansar Allah, reported on Thursday that the son of the late Yemeni president faces numerous charges, including collaboration and espionage with the enemy, according to the statement published by the website. The statement read: “The Central Military Court has issued its verdict against the traitor Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh.”
It continued: “The verdict convicted Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh of treason, collaboration, and espionage with the enemy, as well as corruption.” It added: “He was sentenced to death, and his properties were confiscated.”
The statement clarified that the verdict also included the recovery of embezzled funds related to the corruption charge, along with other supplementary penalties concerning public office.
He remained at the top of Yemen’s political hierarchy for 33 years before stepping down in 2012 following a revolution against him. Saleh allied with Ansar Allah against Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, who succeeded him, before he was assassinated in December 2017.
Since September 2014, the Ansar Allah group has controlled most provinces in the central and northern regions, including the capital, Sana’a, since 2015, while the internationally recognized government has made Aden its headquarters.
