According to a report published by Western media, two recent studies have concluded that the bacteria “Yersinia pestis,” which later caused the “Black Death,” was behind this plague that lasted for more than two centuries.

The second study focused on the complete genome sequencing by examining hundreds of samples from different locations, allowing researchers to trace its spread and history in the region thousands of years before the pandemic outbreak.

These findings confirm that “Yersinia pestis” was not only a cause of later epidemics but was indeed the main driver of the first major pandemic in recorded history, opening the door to a deeper understanding of the history of diseases and how they spread through the ages.
