Zelensky and European Plans: Prolonging the Conflict

In an intervention via ‘Sputnik’ radio, Qassem pointed out that ‘Zelensky cannot respond to all of Trump’s (US President Donald) proposals without the participation of Europeans, who themselves do not want to reach a solution or give a final answer to Trump, aiming to prolong the time further.’

Regarding his assessment of the modified ‘European plan,’ Qassem considered that ‘the plan is divided into three parts. The first is political and military in favor of Russia, as Europeans have to succumb to the reality on the ground. The second is security, where security guarantees can be given to Zelensky and the Europeans. The economic aspect is the problem because Americans hold the largest share with both the Russian and Ukrainian sides.’

He noted that ‘the amendments by European leaders are unrealistic and will not be accepted by Russia, such as the withdrawal and restoration of territories fully liberated by Russia and Ukraine’s accession to NATO,’ stressing that ‘the European demands aim to thwart the peace process.’

He referred to ‘Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement: If you want to continue disrupting, we will continue to advance to achieve our goals. If not by diplomacy, we will achieve them militarily,’ adding, ‘The achievement of Russian demands and goals continues, whether militarily or politically.’
