During ADIPEC 2025, the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) unveiled the Unified Gas Code, a pioneering regulatory framework for the emirate’s gas industry.
This groundbreaking code standardizes safety, efficiency, and sustainability protocols across natural gas, LPG, and industrial gases. It represents a critical advancement for the region, aligning with global standards and supporting the UAE’s sustainability goals.
By fostering a transparent regulatory environment, the code enhances investor trust and encourages public–private partnerships, propelling the nation towards its Net Zero 2050 target.

At ADIPEC 2025, the department will showcase the role of AI and advanced technologies in refining regulatory practices, bolstering safety, and ensuring compliance as part of the Energy and Water Efficiency Strategy 2030.
Abdulla Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, remarked: “Abu Dhabi’s energy sector is evolving through innovation. Launching the Unified Gas Code at ADIPEC 2025 is a strategic leap towards a safe, efficient, and sustainable energy system, echoing our leadership’s vision and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as a clean energy leader.”
The department has implemented a robust regulatory framework to ensure the secure distribution of over 100 petroleum products, promoting innovation and private sector investment.
Through digital transformation and AI, along with the new gas code, DoE is optimizing energy management, improving efficiency, and enabling industry stakeholders to achieve environmental and economic goals. This includes enhancing safety and technical standards, streamlining permits, and promoting low-carbon fuel investments.
The transition towards full electrification and improved energy practices is expected to save AED100 million annually for residents and cut emissions by over 200,000 tonnes of CO₂ by 2050, equivalent to removing 40,000 cars from the roads.
These initiatives reinforce Abu Dhabi’s role as a leader in sustainable energy, supporting the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and Net Zero 2050 objectives.
