According to the correspondent, President Tebboune emphasized during his speech at the opening of the fourth edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) in Algeria that the country is committed to meeting this challenge for the benefit of current and future generations. He added that Algeria is working on implementing ambitious regional projects, such as the Algerian-Nigerian gas pipeline, the regional road connecting Algeria to the Sahel countries, in addition to a railway line extending to Mali and other countries, and a maritime line connecting the east of the continent with its west.

President Tebboune explained that the Algerian government is working to close gaps and complete projects to boost Africa, which he described as the ‘continent of the future,’ at a time when other continents are experiencing an ‘aging phase.’ He affirmed that Algeria contributes to enhancing intra-African trade and supports investment in human resources by providing about 8,000 scholarships annually for African students and has helped train approximately 65,000 African students.

The president insisted on the need for Africa to claim its rightful place in development, peace, and security, emphasizing that the continent is capable of shaping its future by investing its resources for the benefit of its children. The opening events of the fourth edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) in Algeria started a short while ago, marking the first edition since the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement came into force.

The events are organized throughout the days of the fair at the ‘Abdelatif Rahal’ International Conference Center and the ‘SAFEX’ Exhibition Palace, with high-level government delegations from Africa and beyond attending the opening, along with representatives of major financial institutions, regional banks, and investment companies. ‘Algeria Day – Investment and Trade Forum’ headlines the opening day under the supervision of the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion, aiming to establish Algeria as an emerging platform for investment and trade in Africa by showcasing massive investment opportunities in energy, industry, agriculture, infrastructure, and digital transformation, highlighting the legal and tax incentives offered by the state to attract capital.

The forum reflects Algeria’s commitment to supporting continental integration and engaging in African and international value chains. The second day will feature a ‘Mini-Summit of African Investment Promotion Agencies,’ with participation from over 30 African agencies, funding bodies, and international experts, focusing on developing innovative financing mechanisms, exchanging experiences and best practices, and launching advanced digital strategies to facilitate the movement of capital and investments across the continent.

The program also includes specialized technical workshops discussing e-commerce files, intellectual property protection, banking finance, startups, food security, the development of African smart cities, as well as sessions dedicated to showcasing energy projects and energy transition, investment in digital technology, food security, urban infrastructure, and linking African supply chains.

Open spaces for bilateral meetings between investors and decision-makers are organized, along with the launch of strategic platforms to support major projects and enhance Algeria’s role as a continental logistics hub. According to the Algerian News Agency, the organizers expect deals exceeding $44 billion, with the participation of over 2,000 exhibitors and the attendance of 35,000 visitors from leading international economic players.
