The electronic platform ‘Nation Thailand’ reported on Sunday morning that Anutin Charnvirakul has received the royal decree appointing him as the thirty-second Prime Minister of Thailand. The site stated that the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, Arbat Sukkanan, published the royal decree issued by King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) in Thailand, which appointed Anutin as head of the government following controversial legislative elections.

Anutin stood before the portrait of King Rama X during the ceremony, expressing his gratitude and thanks for what he described as the ‘royal grace that will remain immortal in his memory and that of his family’ for his appointment to this position. He pledged to serve the country with honesty, integrity, and ethics.

It is noteworthy that Anutin is 58 years old and is the third Prime Minister of Thailand since 2023. He is expected to lead a coalition government with external support from the pro-democracy ‘People’s Party,’ the largest bloc in parliament. Charnvirakul has already nominated technocrats, including veteran bureaucrat Ekkhinithi Nitithanprapas, for the position of Minister of Finance.

Anutin assumed office as the Prime Minister of Thailand, succeeding ‘Paetongtarn Shinawatra,’ who was dismissed by court order after being convicted of ethical violations due to a politically offensive phone call with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen. It is worth mentioning that Anutin served in Paetongtarn’s government as Minister of Health, but he resigned from his position and withdrew his party from her coalition government after news of the leaked phone call caused public outrage.
