The committee stated that the championship represents an Arab sports gathering aimed at showcasing talents and enhancing the passion of fans for football, as reported by Qatar’s ‘Al-Sharq’ on Friday. The newspaper noted that the committee emphasized its commitment to providing a disciplined atmosphere that respects the nature of the event.
The committee mentioned that playing a song outside the official list was due to an individual action by one of the workers in the fan zone. It pointed out that the organizers took the necessary measures immediately after identifying the violation against the concerned person, while new guidelines were circulated to all workers and operators to ensure full compliance with approved procedures.
The committee reiterated its emphasis on the event being purely athletic, with no other dimensions, stressing its commitment to strengthening social and cultural ties between the participating countries.
It is noteworthy that celebrations by fans following the Iraq vs. Bahrain match, which ended with a 2-1 victory for the Lions of Mesopotamia on Wednesday at Stadium 974 in Qatar, witnessed the playing of an unauthorized song that praised the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
