The authorities described these actions as ‘extremely dangerous and illegal,’ warning of severe penalties, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The Argentine newspaper ‘Infobae’ reported that Holston appeared in a series of videos shirtless, wrestling with saltwater and freshwater crocodiles. Holston defended his actions, claiming that the videos aim to educate and raise awareness, but they sparked widespread anger. The authorities pointed out that interfering with the lives of crocodiles, especially saltwater crocodiles, could subject offenders to a fine of up to 37,500 Australian dollars (approximately 24,800 US dollars). Australian authorities confirmed that such actions pose a significant risk and violate the laws, indicating that they are considering imposing strict penalties, including fines, to deter anyone from repeating this behavior. It is noteworthy that this is not the first time influencers’ actions have sparked controversy in Australia. Last March, an American influencer caused similar outrage after posting a video showing her disturbing a baby wombat, an animal protected under Australia’s unique and sensitive ecosystem.
