As global attention focuses on the genocide in Gaza, shared widely on social media, people are taking action by posting, donating, and speaking out against the devastation.
While individual efforts matter, the impact grows when celebrities with vast audiences speak up for Palestinians. As the Gaza conflict approaches two years, here are six stars who have shown their support for those suffering from Israeli airstrikes.
1. Liam Cunningham
Irish actor Liam Cunningham, famous for his role as Davos Seaworth in Game of Thrones, has consistently supported Gaza, not just in words. He’s among activists sailing with the Global Sumud Flotilla from Barcelona to deliver essential aid.
Before the departure, Liam paid tribute to Palestinian child Fatima, who had been preparing for her own funeral, highlighting the tragic reality of a child planning for her death.

2. Greta Thunberg
Climate activist Greta Thunberg, 22, is also a humanitarian advocate for Palestinian rights. Alongside Liam, she’s joining the Global Sumud Flotilla to “end the genocide and hold war criminals accountable.”
One of the most outspoken celebrities, this isn’t Greta’s first aid mission. In June, she attempted to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza, but Israeli forces seized and deported her and others on the ship.

3. Mo Salah
Following the death of Suleiman al-Obeid, a former Palestine national team player dubbed ‘Palestinian Pelé’, by Israeli gunfire, UEFA mourned him. Liverpool star Mohamed Salah reposted the tribute, adding a sarcastic comment that resonated with Arab fans. Salah questioned UEFA: “Can you tell us how he died, where, and why?”
His comment underscored support for the deceased player and implied accountability for his death.

4. Shawn Mendes
Recently joining the cause, Canadian singer Shawn Mendes expressed heartbreak over Gaza’s situation. During a concert, he shared that he “felt the need to speak” about it.
He said, “We must end these cycles of pain and choose love.” While some praised his words, others criticized him for not explicitly supporting Palestinians, suggesting it was a PR move.

5. Huda Kattan
Palestinian-origin Huda Kattan, CEO of Huda Beauty, frequently highlights the plight of families in Gaza and urges the global community to oppose Israeli actions.
She often launches donation campaigns, with proceeds from Huda Beauty’s recent Kalamantina collaboration going to Médecins Sans Frontières for medical aid in Gaza.

Despite backlash over a TikTok video criticizing Israel, which led to calls for Sephora to drop her products, Huda clarified her stance, emphasizing her support for Palestinians isn’t against Jews.

6. Mark Ruffalo
Actor Mark Ruffalo, known for his role as Hulk, has consistently stated “genocide is not a grey area.”
Following the famine declaration in Gaza, Mark posted on Instagram, asserting it’s “a crime against humanity,” not a natural disaster but a result of power-driven choices. He urged world leaders to act and individuals to “demand an end to the destruction.”
