Controversy Over Mohamed Salah’s Election Photo

Although some initially believed that the photo might be fake, it later turned out to be real. This raised questions about the integrity of the electoral process and its relation to the presidential elections in Cameroon.

According to Egyptian media, the spread of the photo coincided with Salah’s participation in celebrations at Cairo International Stadium for the national team’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

Western media noted that Salah’s photo was circulated in Cameroon under the name “Azert Ksdvg,” pointing out that the name was a random arrangement of letters in an unknown manner.

The photo sparked widespread reactions in Egypt, as reported by the Egyptian newspaper “Al-Watan,” which noted that comments ranged between mockery and criticism.

While some said that the photo humorously suggested Mohamed Salah decided to vote in Cameroonian elections, others saw it as related to security loopholes in the country’s electoral system.

The presidential elections in Cameroon were held on Sunday, with estimates suggesting that the current president, Paul Biya, 92, who has been in office for 43 years, might win another term. Meanwhile, other reports indicated that Cameroonian opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma announced his victory in the elections and urged President Paul Biya to accept defeat, even before the official presidential results were announced.
