In an interview with American channel Fox News, Leavitt said: “The Democratic Party is in complete chaos. Frankly, they have been in this situation for ten years, since the emergence of President (Donald Trump) on the political scene.” She added: “The Democratic Party is practically turning into a full communist party,” noting that Democrats do not advocate for anything useful, but rather limit their role to criticizing Trump.
Leavitt explained: “The Republican Party, led by President Trump, is the party of working men and women.” The disagreement between the two main parties in the United States, Republican and Democratic, has intensified in recent years with Trump’s rise to the presidency, as the conflict between the parties became more intense and included major issues such as homeland security funding, social aid, and particularly issues related to immigration and healthcare.
A crisis was a prominent example of these tensions, where the stalemate between the House of Representatives, dominated by Democrats, and the Senate, led by Republicans, led to a government shutdown for 43 days, the longest in U.S. history. During this period, government services were disrupted, millions of jobs were affected, and political tensions in Washington heightened, clearly demonstrating the ongoing struggle between the parties over how to manage the country’s budget and spending priorities.
