The trailer for Dhanush’s next film, Idli Kadai, has been unveiled, offering fans a sneak peek at his fourth directorial venture.
The storyline centers on Murugan (portrayed by Dhanush), an ambitious young man eager to forge a career in hotel management. His aspirations, however, clash with his father, who operates a cherished local idli shop. When betrayal strikes, Murugan must return to protect his family’s legacy.
The two-minute trailer begins with Murugan requesting his father to purchase a wet grinder to ease their work. His father, adhering to tradition, declines, fearing it would alter the taste. This tension between tradition and modernization forms the emotional heart of the narrative.

Idli Kadai stars Dhanush alongside Nithya Menen, with Shalini Pandey of Maharaj fame also featuring.
Dhanush and Menen reunite after their successful collaboration in the 2022 hit Thiruchitrambalam.
The film is scheduled for release on October 1.
Dhanush was last seen in Kuberaa, featuring Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa premiered on June 20, 2025, and was filmed in both Tamil and Telugu. The socio-drama delved into themes of greed and ambition through a beggar’s transformative journey.
Dhanush will also appear in the Hindi film Tere Ishk Mein with Kriti Sanon. Directed by Aanand L Rai, production wrapped in July, and it’s billed as a spiritual successor to the 2013 romance drama Raanjhanaa, set to release on November 28, 2025.
