On Tuesday, Dubai Duty Free celebrated a landmark achievement by surpassing Dh8 billion in sales for the first time in its 42-year history. The pivotal transaction was a twin pack of Marlboro Lights bought for Dh371 by an Indian traveler heading to Delhi, pushing sales over the Dh8 billion threshold.
This success follows a year of record-breaking monthly sales, with 9 out of 11 months setting new highs, culminating in November’s peak sales of Dh876.56 million ($240.16 million).
At Terminal 3, Ramesh Cidambi, managing director, joined by the management team and staff, remarked on the occasion, “Crossing the Dh8 billion mark for the first time is a remarkable milestone in our company’s history. We deeply appreciate everyone working tirelessly around the clock, all year long, both on the shop floor and behind the scenes, to make these sales possible and elevate our business to this level. Sales have increased by 17.6% compared to the first nine days of last December. The recent days have been incredible, with a 9.8% growth this year, amounting to Dh710 million more than last year, equivalent to an entire month of sales.
As we look forward to the rest of the year, the retail operation will celebrate its 42nd Anniversary on December 20, offering a 25% discount on a broad selection of products to commemorate the event.
