The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has issued a warning to drivers about a traffic diversion near Centrepoint Station due to ongoing construction on the Dubai Metro Blue Line.

Scheduled to launch on September 9, 2029, the new Dubai Metro network will link residential areas to Dubai International Airport in just 20 minutes, reducing traffic congestion by 20% on affected roads. It will also connect to Dubai Silicon Oasis, a key urban center.

In a post on X, RTA announced the closure of the road leading to the multi-storey parking at Centrepoint Station from Airport Road, advising drivers to follow the on-site signboards to access the station.

The iconic Dubai Metro expansion project, stretching 30 kilometers and incorporating 14 stations, will operate with 28 trains, expanding the current network to 78 stations and 131 kilometers.

This Dh20.5-billion project is expected to generate over Dh56 million in profits and carry 200,000 riders by 2030, with numbers rising to 320,000 passengers by 2040.

The transport network will accommodate 46,000 passengers per hour in both directions and is anticipated to decrease congestion by 20% on the served routes. The new line will link nine key districts in the city—Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 and 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City—projected to house over one million residents per the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Travel times along the route are expected to range from 10 to 25 minutes.

The Dubai Metro Blue Line will feature 14 stations, including three interchange stations: Creek Station at Al Jaddaf on the Green Line, Centrepoint Station at Al Rashidiya on the Red Line, and International City 1 Station on the Blue Line, along with the iconic station at Dubai Creek Harbour. The line includes nine elevated and five underground stations.
