Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2025 has sparked remarkable economic growth in its first six weeks, with retailers and malls in Dubai experiencing over 100% increase in consumer spending.

Organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) and running until August 31, strategic collaborations with key corporations and stakeholders have provided unparalleled shopping experiences for both residents and tourists. Thousands of shoppers have engaged with over 1,000 brands at more than 3,500 outlets across 100+ retail spots, marking a milestone in Dubai’s summer retail scene.

This growth is driven by a strategic phased approach in DSS, featuring three unique retail seasons tailored to Dubai’s changing consumer trends and peak shopping periods. The strategy launched with Summer Holiday Offers, boosting early summer retail activity from June 27 to July 17. The momentum peaked with the Great Dubai Summer Sale, which increased mall activity and sales with discounts up to 90% during flash sales from July 18 to August 10. The ongoing back-to-school season is set to maintain this momentum until August 31, aiming for a strong DSS finish by focusing on families and students with value-driven offers.

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of DFRE, stated: “Dubai Summer Surprises is not just a beloved annual festival, but a key driver of economic resilience, tourism, and retail sector growth. With thousands of offers, over 1,000 brands, and more than 3,500 outlets in 100+ retail destinations, DSS continues to solidify summer as a peak economic period for the city.”

Highlighting the strength of Dubai’s summer retail ecosystem and the effective festival strategy, retail groups, mall operators, and brands have reported significant increases in foot traffic, transaction value, and customer engagement.

Dr. Bernd van Linder, CEO of Commercial Bank of Dubai, said: “We are delighted with the impressive mid-season results, proving the effectiveness of this year’s strategy in maintaining momentum and delivering exceptional value. The visibility and engagement from DSS have significantly boosted CBD brand awareness among residents and visitors.”

Baiju Kurieash, CEO of BUZ Management and Marketing LLC, said: “Retail festivals like DSS are crucial in driving footfall, boosting consumer confidence, and accelerating growth in Dubai’s tourism ecosystem. It’s rewarding to see the synergy between retail and tourism realized through these campaigns.”

Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Managing Director of Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim, commented: “Dubai’s retail calendar is evolving into a world-class tourism engine, and DSS is a testament to this momentum. At Majid Al Futtaim, we’re proud to contribute to the region’s vibrant retail tourism landscape.”
