The movement stated in a statement on Saturday: “The movement affirms its openness to any ideas or proposals that achieve a permanent ceasefire, a comprehensive withdrawal of occupation forces from the sector, unconditional entry of aid, and a genuine prisoner exchange through serious negotiations via mediators.”
A phone call took place on Friday evening between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and Steve Whitkov, the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, to discuss joint efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas, amid ongoing Israeli rejection of the proposed ideas.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement posted on social media that both sides discussed Whitkov’s proposals to end the conflict, which include de-escalation, the entry of humanitarian aid, and the exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
During the call, Abdel-Aty warned of the “catastrophic deterioration” of humanitarian conditions, which have reached the point of famine, and highlighted the dangers of expanding Israeli military operations.
The Egyptian minister expressed his country’s readiness to host an international conference for early recovery and reconstruction as soon as a ceasefire is reached, affirming Egypt’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving stability in the sector.
