Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) announced a revenue of Dh15.08 billion ($4.11 billion) for the first half of 2025.
EGA’s underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) reached Dh3.82 billion ($1.04 billion). The net profit, excluding GAC adjustments, stood at Dh1.63 billion ($445 million).
EGA maintained its primary hot metal production at 1.34 million tonnes, with cast metal output at 1.41 million tonnes. EGA Leichtmetall contributed 10,000 tonnes, and EGA Spectro Alloys added 33,000 tonnes.
The company sold 1.37 million tonnes of cast metal to over 400 customers across more than 50 countries, up from 1.31 million tonnes in the first half of 2024.
The share of value-added ‘premium aluminium’ products increased to 84% from 82% in H1 2024. Higher sales of billets, slabs, and high-purity aluminium compensated for lower foundry demand due to a weaker automotive sector.
Sales of low-carbon aluminium brands also rose. EGA sold 52,000 tonnes of CelestiAL solar aluminium, including 19,000 tonnes of recycled CelestiAL-R, up from 44,000 tonnes in the previous year.
EGA signed a supply deal with Hyundai Mobis for up to 15,000 tonnes of CelestiAL annually by 2026. RevivAL recycled aluminium sales soared to 41,000 tonnes from 2,000 tonnes in the first half of 2024.
The Al Taweelah alumina refinery produced 1.14 million tonnes of alumina, slightly down from 1.22 million tonnes in H1 2024, primarily due to sourcing alternative bauxite outside Guinea.
To address this, EGA made enhancements to improve the refinery’s efficiency in processing different bauxite types. Although Australia remained the main bauxite supplier, EGA signed a June 2025 agreement with the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation to explore long-term offtake deals and infrastructure collaborations in Ghana.
EGA advanced its strategic growth plans, announcing developments for the first new primary aluminium plant in the U.S. since 1980.
The Oklahoma plant is expected to produce 600,000 to 750,000 tonnes of aluminium annually, nearly doubling U.S. capacity. Construction begins post-feasibility study, aiming for first hot metal by decade’s end.
In recycling, EGA expanded significantly. EGA Spectro Alloys completed a 55,000-tonne annual expansion in Minnesota, achieving first hot metal in July. Total capacity reached 165,000 tonnes, with full ramp-up by Q1 2026.
In the UAE, the Al Taweelah aluminium recycling facility’s construction is 72% complete, ahead of schedule and budget, with first hot metal expected in Q1 2026.
In H1 2025, EGA signed an MoU with RTX and Tawazun Council to explore gallium production, preparing for a feasibility study in Al Taweelah.
Digitalisation yielded Dh48 million ($13 million) in H1 2025, with 22 new applications developed. Since 2021, EGA’s Industry 4.0 programme has generated Dh440 million ($120 million) in value through over 80 use cases and 22 digital products.
Supporting the UAE’s Operation 300bn strategy, EGA sold 153,000 tonnes of cast metal to local customers, up from 149,000 tonnes in H1 2024.
