Egypt-Germany Discuss Gaza Developments

This came during a phone call with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, discussing developments in the Gaza Strip, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Abdel Aty emphasized the “need for a clear stance on this decision,” calling on the European Union “to act swiftly to stop the dangerous Israeli escalation.” He also affirmed the rejection of the policy of starvation and systematic killing of Palestinians, considering Israeli violations as breaches of international law, and appreciated Germany’s suspension of arms exports to Israel.

During his call with his German counterpart, the Egyptian Foreign Minister reviewed Cairo’s efforts to deliver aid to Gaza and criticized Israeli obstacles, pointing to arrangements for hosting the early recovery and reconstruction conference after the ceasefire in the sector. A statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul expressing his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts and confirmed his country’s desire to participate in and sponsor the conference, agreeing on the seriousness of the Israeli escalation.

Netanyahu stated that “the decision made by the mini-security cabinet is decisive in eliminating Hamas,” adding that “Hamas’ conditions for reaching an agreement are terms of surrender, and we will not accept them.” Netanyahu confirmed that “Israel will impose security control and establish an alternative civil administration that does not include Hamas or the Palestinian Authority,” noting that his country “will surprise Hamas in various ways and has the capability to eliminate it.”
