Emirates will halt flights to Damascus starting Saturday, November 15, until further notice, confirmed an airline spokesperson to Khaleej Times on Friday.

“This decision comes after a routine operational review to optimize fleet utilization in line with our business goals,” explained the spokesperson from the Dubai-based airline.

However, the air link between Dubai and Damascus will continue through flydubai.

“All passengers booked on Emirates flights after November 14, 2025, will be rebooked on flydubai. We apologize for any inconvenience and aim to resume services as soon as possible,” the spokesperson assured.

In June, Emirates announced the resumption of flights between Dubai and Damascus from July 16, after halting operations to the Syrian capital in 2012 due to the civil war.

Initially, Emirates offered three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. Plans were in place to expand to four weekly flights from August 2, adding a Saturday service.

Emirates later announced daily flights starting October 26, using a 302-seater Boeing 777-200LR.

The resumption of flights to Syria followed a thorough evaluation with the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. Other UAE airlines flying to Damascus include Etihad and flydubai.
