Two young Emirati gun designers have introduced a cutting-edge rifle at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), leveraging a rich family history in the arms trade to create a versatile weapon suitable for both military and civilian use.

The rifle, named MP3 PRINZ, is the brainchild of Alfandi Al Mazrouei, 21, and Mohamed Al Ali, 30, who grew up immersed in the world of firearms, thanks to their fathers and grandfathers—founders of MP3 International, a leading arms trading company in the UAE. Crafted by German manufacturer Prinz, the rifle incorporates significant design contributions from the two Emiratis.

“Our fathers established the company, and it has thrived in the market for 21 years,” remarked Al Ali, Operations Manager at MP3 International. “In the Emirates, we’ve traditionally traded weapons from Europe or America. Last year, we decided to develop our own rifle. We collaborated with our partners at Prinz, learned from their engineers, and crafted it ourselves. We anticipate further modifications to meet market demands.”

The MP3 PRINZ features a blend of international components. “We integrated the backstock and grip from Magpul, known for their work with the US military,” Al Ali explained. “We selected barrel sizes and colors with Prinz and added a gas system for enhanced accuracy. The design is tactical, appealing to the new generation who prefer futuristic, military-style firearms, while also attracting hunters and sports shooters.”

The rifle is chambered in both .223 (civilian standard) and 5.56 (military standard), making it a dual-purpose weapon. “It serves hunters, sports enthusiasts, civilians, police, or the army,” said Al Ali. Initially tested in Esseni, northern Germany, under snowy conditions, the rifle demonstrated exceptional performance at ranges of 300 to 500 meters, firing over 2,000 rounds flawlessly, according to the designers.

Only 35 units have been produced initially, priced at Dh18,500 each, with hundreds of pre-orders, including requests from royal offices. “Per UAE law, military stock must be handled through official channels like the police or army, but showcasing a locally designed rifle is a source of pride,” the team noted.

Both Al Ali and Al Mazrouei studied business management but were drawn to their passion for weapons. “Since my birth, I’ve been surrounded by firearms. I inherited this ambition from my father and role models,” said Al Ali. “I’m still considering enhancements for this rifle, consulting with peers from Caracal, Rakna, and Akila. We’re competitors but friends in the end.”

Al Mazrouei added, “Things came easily to us. The three pioneers laid the groundwork and overcame challenges. We followed their lead.”

The MP3 PRINZ is equipped with an M-LOK system, enabling users to add global accessories like flashlights, lasers, bipods, or tripods. “This universal setup simplifies rifle customization,” explained Ayman Al Hashmi, an MP3 business development executive. With demand increasing, the young Emirati designers view the MP3 PRINZ launch as just the beginning.

Limited-edition for Manchester City fans

MP3 International also introduced a striking, limited-edition Barguera rifle featuring the Manchester City logo, crafted entirely from carbon fiber, including the grip. This .308 caliber design is lightweight yet durable, offering long-range precision and allowing users to attach accessories using its M-LOK system, similar to the MP3 PRINZ, enabling attachments like flashlights, lasers, bipods, or tripods.

“This gun is a masterpiece,” stated Ayman Al Hashmi, Business Development Executive at MP3 International. “Despite its lightness—nearly half the weight of other weapons—it is powerful and precise as a sniper rifle. The Manchester City logo makes it unique. Fans cherish owning a limited edition no one else has.”

The carbon-fiber construction is “comparable to a racing bike; sleek, modern, and cutting-edge. While we value traditions, this rifle targets those who appreciate contemporary design and sports hobbies,” he concluded. “It is a remarkable piece for collectors and enthusiasts alike.”
