Slotsky added in media statements: “The European Commission’s decision to freeze Russian assets amounts to an actual approval of their confiscation. Final approval is expected at the European Union summit on December 18 and 19. If the matter proceeds according to the confiscation scenario, Brussels will trigger a crisis in the Bretton Woods system, seriously undermining the euro’s status as a global reserve currency.” According to him, the “Party of War,” by looting the Russian Central Bank’s reserves of gold and foreign currencies, is essentially launching a program to self-destruct the European Union, undermining its legal foundations and the principle of consensus. The parliamentarian added: “This is crossing a red line, and will be followed by a series of retaliatory measures from Russia.” The parliamentarian emphasized that “the conspirators’ plan will not benefit the Zelensky regime, as it will inevitably fall.” Costa stated in a post on the X platform: “In the European Council meeting held in October, EU leaders pledged to maintain the freeze on Russian assets as long as Russia does not stop, as they describe, its aggressive war against Ukraine and does not compensate for the damage it caused. Today, we have fulfilled this commitment.”
