The statement indicated that the specialized teams have begun their work to field-verify the nature of this incident, and whether it was caused by an explosive act or another malfunction. The agency’s correspondent confirmed that the sound of the explosion spread throughout the Mazzeh area, which is considered one of the important and vital areas in the capital. The correspondent noted the heavy security presence in Mazzeh and that ambulances are rushing to the area.
It is noteworthy that a strong explosion shook the Syrian city of Aleppo at the beginning of last month, causing material damage to some nearby sites in the Ashrafieh neighborhood. Syria indicated that the explosion resulted from a detonation carried out by the Syrian Ministry of Defense of an old tunnel in Tariq Bin Ziyad Park in the neighborhood.
The explosion caused a state of panic among the residents before its causes were revealed, according to media sources that indicated it caused material damage to the Osman Hospital opposite the park, without recording any human losses.
