The Libyan ‘Al Wasat’ reported this on Friday, noting that the airport received its first flight on Thursday. The portal pointed out that the Zella Field is operated by the Zueitina Oil Company. It mentioned that the airport has recently been developed, including the rehabilitation of facilities and maintenance of technical equipment to ensure aviation safety and support oil operations.

Libya has been suffering from a complex political crisis since 2011, amidst a state of deep political and institutional division, with two rival governments. One is in Tripoli in the west of the country, which is the Government of National Unity, and the other is in Benghazi in the east, affiliated with the parliament. This division has led to disruptions in the energy sector and frequent shutdowns.
