The army spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, stated in an announcement on the ‘X’ platform: ‘Important announcement to the residents of Gaza City and its neighborhoods. The Defense Army announces that to facilitate the transition southward, a temporary transfer route is opened via Salah al-Din Street. You can move through Salah al-Din Street and then continue moving south from Wadi Gaza.’

In recent weeks, the Israeli army has intensified its warnings to Gaza City residents to evacuate towards an area referred to as ” in the southern sector, in preparation for an offensive aimed at taking control of the city. International organizations estimated last August that around one million people reside in Gaza City and its surroundings. The city has been witnessing a wide-scale displacement for days, on foot or using vehicles and primitive means.

The recent attack has sparked a widespread international outcry, as the sector suffers from a deteriorating humanitarian situation, to the extent that the United Nations officially declared a ‘famine’ in Gaza since last August. In the same context, the Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that ‘Israeli occupation forces bombed late Tuesday night,’ noting that the upper floors of the hospital were targeted three consecutive times.

According to the statement, the hospital houses 80 patients, including 4 pediatric care cases and 8 neonatal care cases, while 40 patients had to leave with their families in search of safe places, leaving 40 others and 12 intensive care cases in addition to 30 medical staff. The Israeli army announced that its forces began military operations around Gaza City as part of Operation ‘Gideon’s Chariots 2,’ indicating that it targets dismantling in the city.

It is noted that Israel’s plan to control the city, known as ‘Gideon’s Chariots 2,’ includes the forced displacement of about one million Palestinians to the southern sector, which has caused widespread international criticism of Israel, which continued its readiness to implement the plan despite all warnings. From October 7, 2023, to the current date of September 16, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of about 65,000 Palestinians and around 165,000 injured, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
