A humanitarian affairs team in the Gaza Strip stated in a statement released today, Wednesday, that the organization will continue its efforts to provide aid despite the difficult circumstances, noting that “this is a man-made disaster, and everyone bears responsibility for addressing it.”
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, expressed concern last Monday over the “genocidal rhetoric” from Israeli officials regarding Gaza. He warned that the region has indeed turned into a “graveyard,” and called for decisive international action “to end the massacre.”
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights added, “I am shocked by the public discourse about genocide and the dehumanization of Palestinians, issued by senior Israeli officials.”
Residents of the Gaza Strip suffer from unprecedented levels of hunger, with UN organizations warning of a famine outbreak and a rising number of deaths due to malnutrition, especially among children, patients, and people with disabilities.
From October 7, 2023, to last August 26, the war on Gaza resulted in the death of approximately 63,000 Palestinians, in addition to around 158,000 injuries, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
