The ministry clarified in a statement today, Wednesday, that the bombardment reflects a “systematic policy to completely disrupt and disable the healthcare system in the sector.” The statement highlighted that the hospital is the only medical facility in Gaza specialized in treating cancer, kidney dialysis, and respiratory and digestive diseases. According to the statement, the hospital houses 80 patients, including 4 pediatric care cases and 8 neonatal care cases, while 40 patients were forced to leave with their families in search of safe places. Meanwhile, 40 others remained, including 12 in intensive care, along with 30 medical staff.
The Israeli army announced that its forces have commenced military operations around Gaza City as part of Operation “Gideon’s Chariots 2,” indicating that the aim is to dismantle the military infrastructure of Palestinian factions in the city. It added that over the past two days, the air force and artillery conducted more than 150 raids on armed targets in Gaza City to support advancing ground forces in the area.
It is noteworthy that Israel’s control plan for the city, known as “Gideon’s Chariots 2,” involves forcibly displacing about one million Palestinians to the southern sector, which has led to widespread international criticism of Israel, which continues to prepare to implement the plan despite all warnings. Since October 7, 2023, until the current September 16, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of approximately 65,000 Palestinians and about 165,000 injuries, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
