Global Resilience Fleet Evacuation Amid Leak

Water leaked into the ship ‘Johnny M’, part of the fleet, early today, prompting a distress call. The ship was sailing between Crete, Cyprus, and Egypt, carrying passengers from several countries, including Luxembourg, France, Finland, Mexico, and Malaysia. The organizers of the Global Resilience Fleet confirmed in a statement that the evacuation of the ship’s passengers proceeded smoothly thanks to Turkey’s swift intervention, according to ‘Turkey Today.’ The organizers expressed their gratitude to Turkey and the Red Crescent for their support, assuring that the incident would not significantly affect the fleet’s mission, which is expected to reach Gaza within four days.

The Global Resilience Fleet set sail at the beginning of September to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid, especially medical supplies, to the region experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster since the closure of crossings in March 2025.

The Global Resilience Fleet faces the risk of interception by the Israeli navy, which is known for seizing ships heading to Gaza and deporting activists. Meanwhile, the ongoing Israeli war since October 2023 has resulted in the death of over 66,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, amidst famine and the spread of epidemics.
