Al-Ansari explained during a press conference held in Doha that the response Qatar received is considered “very positive,” noting that it closely aligns with the proposal previously agreed upon by the Israeli side.
An informed Egyptian source announced on Monday that the Palestinian resistance movement “Hamas” has agreed to a ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip, which was presented by Qatari and Egyptian mediators last Sunday. The source stated that “this step opens the way to reaching a comprehensive agreement in the best possible manner, without endangering the lives of hostages through further intensive military operations, and avoiding events that exacerbate the humanitarian situation for the residents of the Gaza Strip, who are already suffering from a significant tragedy.”
The proposal includes a pathway to reach a comprehensive agreement to end the war, involving a temporary halt to military operations, during which Israeli forces would redeploy along the lines guaranteed by the “Weitkoff Proposal,” and intensive entry of humanitarian aid to meet the basic needs of the sector’s residents. During this period, a number of Palestinian prisoners would be exchanged for half the number of Israeli detainees.
In a related context, an American news agency reported from an undisclosed diplomatic source that “Hamas” provided its response regarding the hostage exchange deal to the Qatari Prime Minister during a meeting held in Egypt on Monday. Hamas had received a new proposal aimed at resuming negotiations from the mediators in the indirect negotiations about the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
