Gaddafi Al-Dam said in an interview with ‘Sputnik’: ‘The case of Hannibal is a disgrace to Lebanon by those who imprisoned him nearly ten years ago, on a charge that is forty years old.’ He added: ‘We have communicated with all countries and international organizations, but there is negligence regarding this man, and this is a historical injustice.’ The political official of the National Struggle Front pointed out that Hannibal ‘was a child at the time of the disappearance of Al-Sadr and was not an official in the Libyan state.’ He continued: ‘He studied marine sciences and worked at sea, and was not among the military or those who engaged in any known political activity. In fact, many Libyans do not know him or his personality.’
The case of Hannibal Gaddafi’s detention has resurfaced and gained momentum in Lebanon, where the Gaddafi family has appealed to the new administration for his release and intervention to end his suffering, receiving positive signals.
In late April of last year, Lebanese media displayed photos of him from inside his cell, appearing exhausted. Throughout his detention, Gaddafi’s son has not provided any information regarding the disappearance of Musa Al-Sadr and his companions in Libya, stating that he is not informed on this matter, as the incident occurred when he was two years old.
