Harbhajan Singh Praises ILT20 for Emerging Talent

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has praised the ILT20 for its ongoing commitment to nurturing emerging talent in the Gulf and beyond.

As a commentator for DP World ILT20 since its launch, the cricket legend has been greatly impressed by the tournament’s progress.

“This year’s tournament has improved with the inclusion of players from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Cricket is expanding fast in this area, and DP World ILT20, along with the Emirates Cricket Board, has played a key role in this growth. They are creating opportunities for new players to gain valuable experience with top international stars,” Harbhajan remarked.

The 45-year-old also highlighted the UAE’s talented players.

“Muhammad Waseem is an outstanding batsman for MI Emirates. Aayan Khan from Gulf Giants is a skilled bowler and cricketer,” he noted.

“There are promising fast bowlers like Wasim Akram from Sharjah Warriorz, who delivers rapid spells. These are just a few, but I believe much more talent from the UAE will emerge.”

“It’s all about the right opportunity at the right time, and DP World ILT20 is offering that,” he added.

Harbhajan named Abu Dhabi Knight Riders as the top contender for this year’s title.

“I believe Abu Dhabi Knight Riders are the team to beat. Their performance against Sharjah Warriorz in the opener showcased their strong batting lineup,” he said.

“While all teams are strong, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders seem very well-balanced this season.”

Harbhajan welcomed the participation of Indian players in ILT20.

“It’s wonderful to see Indian players like Dinesh Karthik with Sharjah Warriorz, Piyush Chawla with Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, and previously Robin Uthappa with Dubai Capitals playing here,” he stated.

“Retired Indian players are continuing their passion for cricket here.”
