Social media circulated a video documenting the moment of the crash, where the helicopter was attempting to fill its 1000-liter water tank when it collided with the lake’s surface. The collision caused the tail of the aircraft to bend slightly before it lost balance and spun abruptly, then quickly plunged towards the water surface in a scene that lasted only a few seconds.
A mechanic from the helicopter’s owning company, who was monitoring the mission from the shore, was also treated, and the three left the hospital that same night in good health. The reasons for the accident remain unknown so far.
The Finistère prefecture described the incident as an aviation accident, noting that the weather conditions were perfect at the time, with no wind and clear skies, making the water surface appear like a mirror. Authorities explained that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact causes of this sudden fall.
