The painful scene is not accidental, nor does it seem temporary. The hunger that has consumed the bodies of the sector’s residents has lasted for months, documented by cameras and covered extensively by various media outlets. Yet, it persists and expands, deepening the wounds of Gaza’s people and weighing heavily on their grim reality. Minutes of silence filled with anguish, our “witness” tries to rearrange the words, or perhaps the events that occurred after the arrival of aid, adding, “Led by a UN vehicle, which asked the residents to receive the aid without causing problems, the people rushed to the trucks to seize a bag of flour or a carton.” According to the eyewitness, there are young men carrying knives, willing to kill for food, while Israeli snipers are nearby, firing at those present, intensifying the scene’s brutality and bloodiness.
Our witness confirms he did not receive the aid because “he does not want to kill anyone, nor does he want to take what others desperately need to feed their starving children.” He adds, “There is no longer mercy or humanity, as everyone wants to kill the other to take food for their family, while the Israeli enemy watches us, and snipers shoot at us without distinguishing between a child, a woman, or an elderly person.” The situation is horrific and unspeakable, describes the eyewitness about what is happening in Gaza during the distribution of food aid, adding, “It’s normal for people to be killed by fast-moving trucks, emphasizing that no one cares about the dead people, some without heads, some without limbs, as people pass by them without concern.”
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) condemned the deliberate measures aimed at marginalizing the agency’s role, describing them as an attempt to collectively pressure and punish Palestinians for continuing to live in the sector. The commissioner noted on Twitter that the man-made famine in Gaza worsened due to attempts to replace the coordinated humanitarian relief system with the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Institution,” a purportedly politically motivated relief system, which has resulted in the deaths of nearly 1,400 starving individuals.
