As IndiGo Airlines in India faces numerous cancellations due to scheduling challenges, a different crisis has emerged on one of its international routes. An IndiGo flight from Madinah, Saudi Arabia, to Hyderabad was rerouted to Ahmedabad on Thursday because of a bomb threat, according to several Indian media sources.
The aircraft safely touched down at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around 12:30 pm. All passengers and crew members were evacuated, and the plane underwent a detailed inspection, as reported by PTI, citing Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Atul Bansal.
Bansal explained, “While en route to Hyderabad from Madinah, IndiGo received an email alleging a bomb was on board. Considering Ahmedabad was the nearest airport, the pilot opted to land there as a safety measure.”
