International Efforts to Recognize Palestine and Ceasefire in Gaza

Starmer’s office stated: “We are determined to defend the viability of the two-state solution, and therefore, we will recognize the State of Palestine in September before the United Nations General Assembly unless the Israeli government takes serious steps to end the deteriorating situation in Gaza and commits to a long-term sustainable peace, including allowing the United Nations to resume humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza without delay to end the famine, and until Israel agrees to a ceasefire and clarifies that there will be no annexation of Gaza or the West Bank.” He added: “We need to open the land crossings and bring 500 food trucks into Gaza daily, and we support the efforts of the US, Qatar, and Egypt to achieve a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza.” Macron stated in a post on his “X” platform account: “In keeping with its historical commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, France has decided to recognize the State of Palestine.”
