Zakharova told Sputnik in an interview on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum: “We are currently working on agreeing on the date and location for the next round of negotiations.” She added: “The Russian side has raised the issue of resuming direct flights as soon as possible as a priority. It will not only be a symbol and embodiment of growing interaction between the two countries, but more importantly, it will be warmly welcomed by the citizens of both countries, if we speak in diplomatic language, otherwise, I think people will feel relieved.”

The tenth Eastern Economic Forum is being held from September 3 to 6 in Vladivostok, on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The main theme of this year’s forum is “The Far East – Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity.” Ushakov said: “Another round of consultations between the foreign ministries is planned. There are still many outstanding issues.”

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his American counterpart in the city of Anchorage, Alaska. Following the talks with Trump, Putin affirmed that the root causes must be addressed to achieve a long-term resolution, noting the importance of resuming cooperation between Russia and the United States. Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev emphasized that the Putin-Trump summit in Alaska proves that negotiations are possible without preconditions, coinciding with the ongoing special military operation.
